Scope Extension

Expand Your Accreditation with ASCC

At ASCC, we understand that Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs) may need to expand their accreditation scope to include additional standards, schemes, or services. Our Scope Extension process ensures that accredited CABs can grow their capabilities while maintaining compliance with international accreditation requirements.

What is Scope Extension?

Scope Extension refers to the process by which an already accredited CAB seeks approval to add new certification programs, standards, or sectors under its accreditation. This could include:

New Management System Standards (e.g., adding ISO 27001 alongside ISO 9001)

New Industry Sectors for existing certifications

Additional Locations to provide certification services

New Certification or Inspection Services

Scope Extension Process

1. Application Submission

CABs must submit a formal request to ASCC along with supporting documents detailing the requested scope extension.

2. Document Review

Our experts review submitted documents, including policies, procedures, auditor qualifications, and previous audit records.

3. Assessment & Evaluation

ASCC conducts an on-site or remote assessment to evaluate the CAB’s capabilities in handling the extended scope

4. Decision & Approval

Upon successful assessment, ASCC issues an updated accreditation certificate reflecting the extended scope.

5. Ongoing Compliance & Surveillance

The extended scope will be subject to regular surveillance audits to ensure continued compliance.
